FAQ
Frequently asked questions.
Honest answers about how our products work, what you receive, and what we don't offer.
About Products
What's the difference between Offsets and Frontier?
Offsets are verified carbon credits from existing projects — you can claim the reduction. Frontier is capital deployed to energy transition projects that need funding to exist — no credit, but you're funding what's next.
Why is Frontier cheaper than Offsets?
Offsets include a concrete deliverable (a verified credit). Frontier doesn't — the value is in what gets built, not what you receive. The lower price reflects that difference.
Can I claim Frontier contributions on my taxes?
No. Terrasition is a for-profit company, not a charity. Frontier contributions are not tax-deductible. If you're a business, Offset purchases may be deductible as a business expense — consult your accountant.
Where do Offsets come from?
We source credits from the Gold Standard registry — one of the most rigorous standards in the voluntary carbon market. Projects include renewable energy, clean cookstoves, safe water access, and biogas.
About Frontier
What kinds of projects does Frontier fund?
Energy transition projects that need capital to exist — early-stage technologies, infrastructure in emerging markets, R&D that hasn't proven itself yet. Projects must demonstrate material carbon intensity improvement (25%+ reduction).
Do I get any return on Frontier contributions?
No. Frontier contributions are not investments. You receive no financial return, no equity, no credit. You're funding the transition, not buying into it.
How do I know my Frontier money is actually being deployed?
We publish transparency reports showing exactly where Frontier capital is deployed, to which projects, and what outcomes result. You'll see this in your dashboard and in our public updates.
What happens while my Frontier contribution is awaiting deployment?
Funds remain in the Restricted Impact Capital Reserve — a segregated account governed by board resolution. They cannot be used for operating expenses or shareholder benefit while awaiting deployment.
About Subscriptions
Can I change my allocation after subscribing?
Yes. Log into your dashboard and adjust your Offset/Frontier split anytime. Changes apply to your next billing cycle.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No contracts, no penalties. Cancel through your dashboard and your subscription ends at the current billing period.
Is there a minimum purchase?
Yes — 1 tonne minimum per transaction (about $21.50–$23.50 depending on product mix).
Can I make a one-time purchase instead of subscribing?
Yes. You can offset a specific amount — a flight, an event, or any amount you choose — without subscribing. Same product options apply.
About Terrasition
Is Terrasition a charity?
No. Terrasition Corp. is a for-profit corporation, not a charity. Contributions are not tax-deductible charitable donations.
How does Terrasition make money?
A portion of Offsets revenue covers our operating costs, including the cost of sourcing and retiring credits. For Frontier, a majority of net contributions go to the Restricted Impact Capital Reserve; the remainder covers operating expenses. The exact allocation ratio is set by the Board and disclosed in transparency reports.
Where can I see your transparency reports?
Transparency reports are published in your dashboard once you're a subscriber. We also publish summary reports publicly on a periodic basis.
