Terrasition Corp. ("Terrasition", "we", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you use our services, including our Offsets and Frontier products. 1. Information We Collect
1.1 Profile and Contact Information
When you subscribe to Terrasition, you provide: name, email address, subscription preferences (including product allocation between Offsets and Frontier), and any other information you voluntarily provide in communications with us.
1.2 Payment and Billing Information
Payment information (credit card details, billing address) is collected and processed by Stripe, Inc., our third-party payment processor. Terrasition does not store full payment card details on our servers. Please review Stripe's Privacy Policy at stripe.com/privacy. We do maintain records of your subscription transactions, including: date and amount of contributions, product allocation (Offsets and/or Frontier), subscription tier, and transaction history.
1.3 Technical and Usage Information
We automatically collect technical information when you visit our website, including: IP address and general geographic location, browser type and device information, pages visited and navigation patterns, referral source, and date and time of access. This information is collected through server logs and cookies.
1.4 Communications
We collect and store any communications you send to us, including emails, support requests, feedback, and other correspondence.
1.5 Information We Do Not Collect
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information beyond what is required to operate the service, including: social insurance numbers, financial account information (beyond payment processing by Stripe), health information, or information about children under 18.
1.6 Carbon Footprint Calculator
If you use our carbon footprint calculator, we collect the inputs you provide and the resulting estimates. This information is used to generate your footprint estimate and, if you choose to subscribe, to determine your suggested contribution level. Calculator inputs are not shared with third parties and are retained only as long as necessary to provide the service.
2. How We Use Your Personal Information
We use personal information to: process subscriptions, one-time purchases, and payments; operate, maintain, and improve the Terrasition platform; communicate with subscribers about their accounts; provide offset retirement certificates and Frontier deployment transparency reports; send material updates about our activities, policies, and governance; respond to inquiries and provide customer support; prevent fraud, security issues, and abuse; comply with legal and regulatory obligations; and enforce our Terms & Conditions. We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. How We Share Your Personal Information
3.1 Payment Processors
Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. When you provide payment information, it is transmitted directly to Stripe and subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy (stripe.com/privacy). Stripe may process and store payment information on servers located in the United States and other jurisdictions. By subscribing, you consent to this cross-border transfer of payment information.
3.2 Service Providers
We share information with service providers who assist us in operating our platform, including: website hosting and infrastructure providers, email communication services, analytics and usage tracking tools, and customer support platforms. These service providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for specified purposes on our behalf.
3.3 Legal Requirements and Protection
We may disclose personal information if required by law, court order, or government authority, or to: comply with legal obligations; enforce our Terms & Conditions; detect, prevent, or address fraud or security issues; or protect the rights, property, or safety of Terrasition, our subscribers, or the public.
3.4 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred to the acquiring entity, subject to this Privacy Policy. We will notify you via email of any such change in ownership or control.
4. Communications and Consent (CASL Compliance)
4.1 Transactional Communications (Cannot Opt Out)
These communications are necessary to administer your subscription and are not subject to unsubscribe requirements: subscription confirmations and receipts, offset retirement certificates and Frontier deployment reports, payment confirmations and billing notices, account security notifications, and important policy or service changes.
4.2 Impact Reports and Updates (Can Opt Out)
These communications can be opted out of at any time: periodic impact reports showing allocation and deployment of contributions, updates about our activities and impact initiatives, and material changes to allocation ratios or governance.
4.3 How to Opt Out
You may withdraw your consent for non-transactional communications at any time by: clicking the 'unsubscribe' link in any email, or contacting us at privacy@terrasition.org. We will process your request within 10 business days.
5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to collect information, measure and analyze website usage, and improve user experience. Types of cookies we use: • Essential cookies: Required for the website to function (session management, security) • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how visitors use our website • Preference cookies: Remember your settings and preferences You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings or our cookie consent banner. Disabling cookies may affect website functionality. Analytics cookies are not loaded until you consent.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information as follows: Active Subscriptions: Throughout your subscription and for as long as you maintain an active account. Cancelled Subscriptions: Contact and subscription history — 7 years from last transaction (required for tax and accounting purposes under Canadian law). Payment records — retained by Stripe per their policies; we retain transaction records (not full card details) for 7 years. Communications and support records — 7 years, or as required to resolve disputes. Right to Request Deletion: You may request deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting privacy@terrasition.org. We will comply within 30 days, except where retention is required by law, necessary to resolve disputes, or needed for legal claims.
7. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures including: encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS), secure storage with access controls, regular security updates and monitoring, access limited to authorized personnel, and confidentiality agreements with employees and contractors. Payment information is secured by PCI-DSS compliant processors (Stripe). Important: No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. 8. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Terrasition is based in Alberta, Canada. However, personal information may be transferred to, processed, and stored in other jurisdictions, including the United States, where our service providers operate. When we transfer information outside Canada, we use service providers that maintain reasonable security safeguards and require contractual commitments to protect your information. By using Terrasition's services, you consent to the transfer of your personal information to these jurisdictions for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have the following rights with respect to your personal information: • Right to know: Understand why we collect your information • Right to access: Request a copy of your personal information • Right to correction: Request that we rectify inaccurate or outdated information • Right to withdraw consent: Withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal restrictions • Right to deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and contractual obligations To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@terrasition.org. We will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you reside, additional rights may apply to you under local privacy laws (for example, PIPEDA in Canada, the CCPA/CPRA in California, or the GDPR in the European Union / United Kingdom). If you believe we have not adequately addressed a privacy concern, you may also have the right to file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children's Privacy
Terrasition's services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, please contact us immediately at privacy@terrasition.org.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the 'Last Updated' date, notify active subscribers via email at least 30 days before changes take effect, and post the updated policy at terrasition.org/privacy. Your continued use of Terrasition's services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
